History and distinctive features
The Tischlerstraße War Cemetery was created between 1960 and 1964 and inaugurated in 1965. More than 3,500 people from 18 nations are buried in its woodland clearing. The graves commemorate victims of both world wars and of Nazi persecution. No new burials take place here; the grounds serve as a permanent site of remembrance. Its daily closing time varies by season between 5 pm and 8 pm.
